Connection with Cohoes of Yesteryear |

The Sunday, May 6, 2012 Falls View Park Arts & Music Festival was a great success, with more than 700 people from Cohoes and the surrounding communities enjoying a sunny Sunday in the park. Helping to kick-off this great community event were Brookfield’s John McVaigh, Cohoes Mayor John McDonald and City of Cohoes School District Superintendent Robert Libby.
Attendees were treated to colorful and creative artwork under the art tent courtesy of Cohoes School District children, grades K-12. A special shout-out to Middle School Art Teacher Jude Pingelski and her team of district art teachers for inspiring the children to craft such outstanding artwork.
Carrie Briggs, vocal music teacher, led the High School’s Director’s Choice select chorus in several songs, including a cappella rendition of the coal-mining classic Sixteen Tons (see video). Following their performance was Rick Rourke & Lost Wages, who delivered energetic blues, country, jazz, and soul selections for a captive audience.
Rounding out the festival was a lively performance by Cohoes’ own BackBeat band.
Once again Brookfield is thankful for the community’s support of this festival. Keep an eye out on our website for other events at Falls View Park as well as throughout the Cohoes community.

We at Brookfield have learned about the tragic passing of one of Cohoes’ favorite musicians -- legendary blues guitarist, Ernie Williams. Our sympathies go out to his family. |
